What is an Energy Performance Certificate?

An Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) is an assessment carried out by a trained Domestic Energy Assessor (DEA) licensed by the government on a property.

It produces information as to the Energy Efficiency Rating and Environmental Impact (Carbon Dioxide emission) of the building and gives information as to how these figures could be improved and running costs reduced by alterations / improvements to the property.

They are required to be produced for all properties that are sold or let under European legislation as part of the effort to reduce global warming.
